The Gift of Respect Store is a program to bring youth and adults with epilepsy into the volunteer and paid workforce and to improve their chances of getting and keeping a job. There are no other volunteer or vocational programs in this community targeting the unique needs of youth and adults living with epilepsy. There are other job development programs for people with disabilities but our members have found that these programs do not address the safety, stigma, self esteem and disclosure issues associated with their condition. The Gift of Respect Store will develop job skills, interpersonal skills and friendships. All of the materials and training will reinforce self worth and teach job and life skills in a flexible, supported and compassionate environment.
